We liked the location relative to the ski slopes, the proximity to the grocery store, and we appreciated the use of the kitchen, as the restaurant at the hotel was closed and there were very few restaurants open in the village. The breakfast was really good with a lot of variety. The staff was very friendly and helpful. - March 2023

Useful information
The car-free holiday destination Braunwald is located in the southernmost part of the Glarus region, on a gently sloping and southeast-facing sun terrace, high above the Linth Valley, at an altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level. This situates Braunwald far from hustle and traffic. The wonderful panorama of the Glarus Alps with Ortstock, Tödi, Biferten, and Hausstock is within reach. "Ideal conditions for a relaxing holiday!"
By train:
With the S25 directly to the Glarus region
Train connection with express trains (IC from Basel and EC from Berlin/Hamburg/Amsterdam/Brussels) via Zurich every hour directly to Linthal-Braunwaldbahn. Take the S25 at xx.43 from Zurich HB.
The S25 (formerly Glarnersprinter) is part of the Zurich S-Bahn. With the S25, you travel the fastest way to Zurich and back.

By car:
From Zurich in about 70 minutes or from Chur/Sargans via the highway (A3) to the Niederurnen exit; then take the main road towards Glarus/Klausen (about 30 km to the Linthal valley station).
From around May 20th to the end of October: Klausen Pass road from Central Switzerland. You can find the detailed arrival | SBB
Attention! Very important!! You can only drive by car to Linthal. There is no road leading to Braunwald!!
(even if some navigation systems suggest otherwise)
The Braunwald funicular:
The funicular runs daily from 5:55 a.m. - 11:55 p.m. at half-hourly intervals during peak hours, and at hourly intervals during off-peak hours.
By train:

Restaurant & Sääli
After an exciting day in the Glarus mountains you deserve a tasty refreshment. Hotel guests, hikers and groups enjoy honest Swiss cuisine in our restaurant at the Adrenalin Backpackers Hotel Braunwald with well-known mountain and valley classics such as a delicious Bouillon with Flädli and a hearty Cordon Bleu.
If you order in advance, you can also let a typical Swiss cheese fondue melt in your mouth. Our restaurant serves selected wines or soft drinks to go with it. In our Sääli we serve breakfast and dinner.

Eight lifts take skiers and snowboarders up to the slopes. At an altitude of between 1256 and 1901 m.a.s.l., around 30 very well prepared kilometers of slopes await you.
Beginners venture down the mountain on the easy trails, advanced board artists swing over challenging slopes.

Those who are on skis for the first time learn the basics at the child-friendly Swiss Ski and Snowboard School Braunwald.
Once kids have mastered the first tricks, gain more confidence on the boards in the dwarf land of Grotzenbuel. In the middle of the winter sports area there is a practical practice area.
In the Bartli course tunnel and with lots of cool practice aids, kids quickly learn new tricks on skis and snowboard.
